Volunteers are critical to the success of the shelter.
RappCats runs on the strength of its volunteers, who handle all aspects of our needs, both at the shelter and within the organization itself.
Your compassion and dedication will mean the difference in helping a cat find a permanent loving home.
Adoption Center
The RappCats Adoption Center is a cageless, no-kill shelter staffed entirely by volunteers. We do two shifts a day, seven days a week. Shifts are fun and rewarding!
We do essential tasks such as feeding the cats, scooping litter boxes and doing very light cleaning (e.g. washing dishes, wiping counters and sweeping) at each shift.
We also take time to socialize the cats and prepare them for adoption – pet them, play with them, and get to know and appreciate their unique and delightful personalities.
Shifts usually take about an hour and a half, depending on the number of cats in the Adoption Center at the time.
Teams are welcome – including parent/child teams. We currently have several parent/child/friend teams and they are some of our finest volunteers! All volunteers receive training to assure that their work is safe and enjoyable.
In addition to daily shifts we need help with cleaning and occasional transport of animals.
Can’t commit to a regular Adoption Center shift or to fostering? There are many other ways to help!
Foster a Cat
Space at the RappCats Adoption Center is limited, and we cannot accommodate all cats, particularly young kittens or cats with special needs. Therefore foster homes are always needed for both short and long-term care.
Providing a caring foster home is a rewarding way to give a homeless cat a chance for a better life, and an important contribution to our organization!
All potential foster homes must be approved by RappCats. To read more about our policies, procedures, and tips on fostering a cat, please read our guide.
